Homeschooling has been a polarizing style of teaching in our country. Many have been timid and reluctant, stating they want their children to have more socialization or that they do not want their children to be awkward. Alternatively, others have embraced it and have raised wonderful children that are not only social and bright in every respect, but also steadfast in their belief in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The founding board members of Riverstone Classical Academy are of the school of thought that has embraced homeschooling. All of the board members come from different walks of life and different parts of our beautiful country. They all individually embraced the challenge of educating their children and taking on the challenging task of homeschooling. God brought these women together and gave them the platform to bring forth this hybrid homeschooling program. This is an amazing program which is first and foremost Christian based, it is catered around a Classical curriculum and led by wonderful, Christian educators with the experience and knowledge to help guide our children through these tumultuous times.
Many ask, what is a hybrid homeschooling program? Simply stated, it is what many current homeschooling families and families considering homeschooling have been waiting for. The home still remains the center for homeschooling, however the “burden” has been lifted off of the shoulders of some incredible mothers and fathers, to go through the journey alone. They now have a built-in support system through additional educators. The drop-off program allows the children to make lifelong friends and relationships, in addition to a Christian Family that will help steer them through the rigors of the crazy times we are living through.
Riverstone Classical Academy features a collaborative schedule providing a balanced investment and shared responsibility between family, school and learner. The weekly schedule includes two drop-off academic days, two homeschool days and one optional drop-off electives day. An important aspect of our program is the self-imposed limit of no more than ten students per class. The importance of this cannot be overlooked with todays crowded public and private school classrooms. Smaller classrooms assure a hands-on approach where our children are given the proper attention and assistance. As stated earlier, the home remains the center of this program. Parents are able to guide their children, teach them as they see fit and instill Christian values to become the wonderful people that they are meant to be.
