The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature is a fun place of limitless discovery, where your children ages 7 to 11 years old can explore the interconnectedness of the world around them, planet Earth and the cosmos at Science Summer Camp.

The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature is the largest natural and cultural history museum on Florida’s Gulf Coast and interprets the region from the Pleistocene to the present. Highlights from the collection include its new permanent exhibition, the Mosaic Backyard Universe, with a scale model of our solar system, freshwater Pond with native turtles, Science Shed, fossil Dig Pit, Cardboard Rocket, and life-sized Mighty Oak. Geared toward children 2-8 years old, the Backyard brings a world of fun, interactive exploration to the region. You can also see fossil evidence of Florida’s earliest mammals and marine species at The Bishop, the Montague Tallant collection of prehistoric and early post-contact archeological artifacts, and the Environmental Wing focusing on Florida’s ecology and biodiversity. The Museum is also home to The Planetarium, featuring an all-digital projection system to present astronomy programs the whole family will enjoy, as well as a variety of live astronomy presentations. The Parker Manatee Rehabilitation Habitat is a proud partner of Florida’s Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation Partnership and has served as a temporary home to more than 35 rehabilitating wild manatees since 1998.

Business Review

Fantastic and inexpensive
"On our first visit we were so impressed we bought a year membership. We have since return for the Moon Rising exhibit and also took our grandson last month when he was visiting. Money well spent be it for one day or an annual membership".

Fun & Interesting Museum
"I went with adults, but this would be a great place to take children over 7. The best parts are the manatee show and the planetarium. Great place to see a manatee up close and learn about these special Florida creatures. The planetarium show is digital and amazing! Incredibly comfortable seats and educational tour of the heavens. You feel like you’re really a part of the universe."

Time Well Spent
"This is a great little museum. The displays cover the prehistoric era to the mid 20th century. There are really interesting fossils and Native American artifacts as well as reminders of old Florida. It took us about two hours to walk through and see everything in the main museum, but we could have stayed longer. We did not get a chance to feed the manatees or visit the planetarium. We hope to come back another time for those."
