Discovery Point Twelve Oaks is a premier childcare franchise! We are a national franchise that has been in education for over 30 years! Our franchise focuses heavily on staff and curriculum development. We have a curriculum coordinator who helps monitor and create common assessments, stay up to date on current academic units to identify best educational practices, and keeps us aligned to the Florida education standards. Our VPK teachers have weekly lesson plans, classroom schedules, weekly calendars for daily events and different themes for the classroom.
Discovery Point Twelve Oaks Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten classes start Thursday August 10, 2023. Our VPK program is a full day wrap around program and we do not follow the public-school calendar. As we have our own school calendar, the only time VPK classes are not in session is when Discovery Point Twelve Oaks school is closed. We offer Physical Education classes through Amazing Athletes to all VPK students. We also offer Super Soccer Stars and Techie Kids Robotics and Coding Classes (STEAM program) as extracurricular activities. We have a school where the children are provided benefits of diverse skills and face a fresh challenge on a daily basis to help them succeed.
Our curriculum is based on the philosophy that “every child learns differently". We want to focus on enhancing content knowledge and best practices for our VPK students. The curriculum is called Frog Street and is researched based:
- Frog Street Portal offers engaging online resources to support instruction, including teacher guides, literature, lesson plans, family letters, listening library, digital images, music and more.
- Frog Street Pre-K at Home is an interactive, hands-on program that provides daily, intentional lessons that are fun and easy to use! The activities are designed to deliver instruction to children and families online and children using a distance-learning format. All the content is aligned with the Frog Street in-class curriculum for Pre-K and families at home.
- AIM Observational Assessment provides teachers with an authentic assessment process to collect evidence and data in order to show progress and make developmentally appropriate instructional decisions. AIM measures 60 Learning Progressions and indicators of kindergarten readiness across four developmental domains.
The VPK room has a schedule that takes the children from breakfast, lunch, snack, group learning, calendar time, centers, outdoor play, to the end of the day.
We provide breakfast, lunch and snack. We have our own chef that serves and cooks the food in our state-of-the-art kitchen. We have a cafeteria where the students eat and where we also hold our events. The VPK program includes field trips, guest speakers, team building games, cooking and much more!
We have a priority on children's safety: floor plans with full visibility, keypad locks, strict visitor policies, background checks and staff training programs throughout the year.
We are committed to quality through monthly reviews, high standards of health, nutrition, and safety that far exceeds requirements imposed by state regulations.
We encourage family partnerships through daily reports sent home and updates on the school through newsletters, emails, conferences and our app.
