You won't believe your eyes at Museum of Illusions Orlando

A Bradenton Macaroni Kid Review

By Denise Granata May 13, 2021

Welcome to the world of illusions - a place that will bewilder and blow your mind.  Stand in a tilted room - you are standing still, so why does it feel like you are moving?  See yourself into infinity.  Venture through the Vortex Tunnel - a completely still surface that will still make your head spin.  Are you really seeing what is before your eyes or are you in another realm? Nothing is what it appears to be...

If you are headed up to Orlando this summer, make sure to put the NEW Museum of Illusions Orlando on your to-do list!

The museum is relatively small, providing on average about 60 to 90 minutes of a fun getaway.  Situated in a u-shape that allows for one-way traffic, the museum boasts over 50 head-scratching exhibits including optical illusions, holograms, puzzles and special rooms that are fun for both children and adults!  There are a lot of fantastic photo opps (and some of the illusions require a camera to do) so be sure to bring your phone!

I don't want to spoil too much, but here are some of our favorite illusions:

The Ames Room

It may look like a regular room to visitors, but in one corner you are larger than life and in the other corner you could appear in "Honey I Shrunk the Kids".  Finally - my daughter was so happy to finally be bigger than her big brother!

Head on a Plate

I promise - no one was hurt in the taking of this photo!

The Beuchet Chair Illusion

My favorite illusion in the museum!

The Clone Table

Sit down with 5 of yourselves and enjoy a game of cards!

Infinity Well

Getting sucked into the bottomless pit!

Symmetry Room

Great room to make fun poses.

What I really liked about the museum is that it makes you think outside of the box.  But, it doesn’t leave you hanging! Next to each exhibit there is an explanation of what you think you are seeing along with the clarification of what you are actually seeing and why.  So not only is it fun but educational at the same time!

We had a great experience at the museum.  The staff were really friendly and are there to help explain the illusions and take pictures. Photo spots are clearly marked on the floors to tell you where to stand to make sure you get the best pictures.
