BRADENTON MACARONI KID GOES TO THE NEW FUZZY'S TACO SHOP!

A Bradenton Macaroni Kid Review

By Denise Granata June 1, 2017

If you have driven down 14th Street in Bradenton recently, you may have noticed a new bright yellow, green and purple restaurant.  To those of you who love Mexican food, take note!  Fuzzy's Taco Shop, a fast-casual restaurant know for delicious Mexican food and margaritas, opened May 15.  The first Fuzzy's was originally founded in Texas in 2003 next to a college and thanks to its delicious food and fun energetic atmosphere, there are now 116 restaurants in 14 states.  The opening of the Bradenton restaurant makes it the 8th location in Florida, joining restaurants already on University Park in Sarasota, as well as Tallahassee, Orlando, Brandon, Fort Myers and Naples.  Plus, there are plans to open up more locations in North Port and Siesta Key!  The first thing I wanted to know when I walked in was how this unique name came about.  Turns out Fuzzy was the nickname of the original owner!  So there you have it!

You can't help but be in a great mood when you walk into Fuzzy's with the brightly colored walls and tables and chairs.  Music is playing and overhead TVs are showing the latest game.

Want to enjoy the beautiful Florida weather?? No problem!  There is also outdoor seating with full bar service available.  Enjoy taking it easy or catch a game of Cornhole while you are waiting for your food.

Once you enter the restaurant it's time to chose what you want to eat. The menu is large and offers yummy Mexican staples including chips and queso, stuffed burritos, quesaillas, enchilladas, salads, tacos and more. You can even order breakfast all day long! Once you know what you want, you order at the counter and are given a buzzer. Once your food is ready the buzzer will go off and you go and pick it up. Check out the pictures of our dinner - the chicken fajita plate which comes with the choice of two sides (I got refried beans and mix-mex fried rice) and my husband got the burrito smothered with queso. Portions are large and delicious!

While my husband and I love to try out new places to eat - well, my kids - not so much!  I think if they could eat chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese every day they would!  So we never know what to expect when trying a new place. My kids ended up getting the chicken fajitas (of course!) and I was pleasantly surprised when my finicky son took a bite and said "yum"! We knew we had found a special place!  I love seeing this!

And for desert they got some adorably decorated Fuzzy Taco's cookies.  They didn't last too long once they were opened!

I definitely loved the laid back atmosphere of Fuzzy's Taco Shop, which makes it the perfect place for families with kids who may be a little louder during dinner time. At the same time, it would also make a great place to come and hang on the porch and have some drinks with friends.  With Happy Hour all day every day and some fun themed nights including trivia, it is definitely a fun place to hang with friends.  They also offer daily specials such as Tuesday Taco where select tacos are only $1.59 all day and Nacho-Ordinary Thursdays where select nachos are only $4.99.

We will definitely be back!

I think this sign sums it up best...
