MANATEE YMCA HOSTING HEALTHY KIDS DAY 2017

Saturday, April 22 from 10AM to 2PM at Bradenton Riverwalk

March 16, 2017

On Saturday, April 22, the Manatee YMCA will be holding a free community event to inspire kids to keep their minds and bodies active. YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day®, the Y’s national initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families, features activities to motivate and teach families how to develop a healthy routine at home.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bradenton Riverwalk and is expected to draw about 5,000 people from Manatee County. It will feature an obstacle course, a free fishing clinic, vendors, a DJ, kids crafts and activities, food for purchase, exhibitors such as the Humane Society of Manatee County, Jungle Gardens, O’Brien Family Farms, and more.  YMCA membership specials will also be offered at the event.

Pre-registration at a Manatee YMCA branch is required for the fishing clinic only.  Children who participate in the clinic will receive a free rod and reel.

YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, celebrated at nearly 1,300 Ys across the country, aims to get more kids moving and learning, so they can keep up the habit all summer long – a critical out-of-school time for kids’ health. When kids are out of school, they can face hurdles – or gaps – that prevent them from reaching their full potential, related to hunger, water safety, learning, safe spaces to play, and health. Each year, the Y helps over 9 million youth nationwide “hop the gap” and achieve more, providing a safe to place to learn, stay healthy and build friendships.

Healthy Kids Day is presented by the Herald-Tribune, and sponsored by Gettel Automotive, Advance Dental Care, LECOM, Florida Blue, Titan Concrete, Tobacco Free Florida, Discount Tackle, Harbor Community Church, Blake Medical Center, MCR Health Services, Easter Seals, Signs Now, and Allegra Printing.
