I don't consider myself a "girlie girl" but big trucks?? Nah, not so much my thing. So I was a little hesitant about attending my first Monster Jam show at Amalie Arena on January 17. My husband and seven-year-old son, on the other hand, were extremely excited about the show. My hesitations aside, I was definitely looking forward to a different family adventure! After the hour drive to Tampa, we first went to the "Pit Party" which was from 1:30PM to 5PM. All the trucks are out for display so you can meet the drivers, get a few autographs and get your pictures taken next to these massive trucks. I was really glad we went to this pre-show so we could see how HUGE these trucks really are! Peyton could sit in the hubcap of the wheel and my head only came up to the bottom of the truck! Sitting in the stadium you don't realize how big the trucks are so this gives you even more appreciation of their stunts during the show.

The party was high energy as they also had shows including BMX bikers and extreme POGO (who knew there was such a sport!?!) and remote control car races. Once the party was over we had two hours until the show started. We headed back to our car for some "tailgating". It was a great family atmosphere....everyone had grills, cornhole and footballs. The time passed very quickly and then it was time for the main event! From the moment all the trucks came out to exploding fireworks until the last truck flipped, I was hooked. The side-by-side racing was pretty intense but of course the free-style stunts were unbelievable! Crushing cars, doing wheelies, doing FLIPS!! It was an awesome night and something that I am so thankful to FELD Entertainment for providing me tickets to!

Tampa will heat up February when 1,500 horsepower, 10,000-pound monster trucks compete in side-by-side racing and the fan-favorite freestyle competition where each monster truck gets up to 120 seconds to “wow” the crowd with huge jumps, wheelies, truck-spinning donuts, flips, and the destruction of cars, vans, buses, motor homes and more.
